Bon Iver @ The Sydney Opera House, 11th And 12th Of March

The most remarkable thing about Bon Iver and Justin Vernon in particular is how they have grown so much as a band and as a person respectively but yet have maintained their identity; how they have kept the essence of what made their early music so very special and imprinted it into everything they do, whether that be their sophomore album or playing at the Sydney Opera House in front of thousands of people with a ten-piece band. The Top 20 Albums Of 2011

Because this is a personal site there are bound to be a few great albums missing from this list that I probably love, I just don’t know it. Bon Iver ‘Beth/Rest (Piano Verison)’

Bon Iver’s album closer ‘Beth/Rest’ has almost certainly been the year’s most divisive indie song. Full of cheesy saxophones and guitar solos, it’s a long way from the sparse Bon Iver sound that we knew and loved. Recently Bon Iver took to the NPR studios to play a completely different arrangement of the song, featuring only Justin Vernon and only a piano. And oh my god the result is just something else.
