Georgia Fair – Times Fly

(Embedding Disabled)

“We used to fight and whine, and dine all night, but never losing sight of the prize.”

There is a sense of yearning and loss in this song by Sydney duo Georgia Fair that I both find impossible to place and impossible to escape from. Times Fly is from their 2010 EP of the same name, and it is quite simply an instantly mesmerising track.

Sure the hooks, guitars, and harmonies are still here, but there is just something intangible about that almost hymnal extended outro and restrained vocals that is truly captivating. It’s not as summer-y or as catchy as much of Georgia Fair’s other music, but it is still charming, and the more you listen to it the more evident this becomes. It is, above all, atmospheric.

But yet as much as I try to describe why I find this track so awesome, I find I really can’t. There’s just something about it, some deep-rooted form of nostalgia that draws you in and doesn’t let go.
