First of all: Burial has released a new single. It’s called Truant and it is of course excellent, throwing many preemptive end-of-year best of lists into disarray. Listen to it and its b-side, Rough Sleeper, over at Hyperdub, where the tracks can also be purchased on the cheap.
Secondly, as you may or may not have noticed, this blog has been much less active lately than it was earlier in the year. There are a few reasons for this: I’ve been going to fewer gigs due to problems with my ears, I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by the amount of emails I’m receiving from bands and publicists (to the point where it’s almost unfeasible to read them all), and I’m simply listening to less new music than I used to. This doesn’t mean that I’m stopping of course, just that things might be a bit slow, especially over Christmas, until I hopefully get into the swing of things again.
On the bright side though, I’m looking forward to getting my own best of lists up over the coming week.
Sorry to hear that man. I’ve got mild tinnitus in my right ear, makes me more hesitant about gigs… Kinda feel like I’m going to have to become progressively more selective with who I go to see, which sucks. I know the feeling re: publicists and everything too.
Looking forward to your end of year lists!
Thanks man, appreciate the support. It’s also my right ear, wonder if that’s a gig thing? But yeah it definitely makes you think twice about going to see bands you’ve seen live before.
