San Cisco ‘Rocket Ship’

When I first heard San Cisco’s EP ‘Golden Revolver’ early last year I had the feeling that I’d be hearing a lot more of the Perth band very soon, but to be honest I had no idea just how much or just how soon. The band’s recent single Awkward was a career-maker, polling in at number seven on some countdown I’ve never heard of before and earning the band a huge following around the country that has seen them all but sell out their current national tour. Well San Cisco are back with the second taste of their upcoming ‘Awkward’ EP, ‘Rocket Ship’.

The Ruminaters ‘Deadstuff’

The last thing that the Australian indie scene really needs is another garage-surf-rock band, but when the band in question is as good as Sydney’s The Ruminaters, I can certainly make an exception. Plus, any band that describes their music as “beatnik barnyard hillbilly swamp rock” can’t be bad. Have a listen to their first (and I believe only?) single, ‘Deadstuff’.

Cœur De Pirate ‘Saint-Laurent’

Recently I’ve discovered that I really like French pop music. Or rather, that I really like one French-Canadian pop singer in particular. Her name is Cœur de Pirate, which is French for Pirate Heart, and you might have heard of her through her vocals contribution to a Bedouin Soundclash track.

Inspired And The Sleep ‘Running’

A while ago I posted about Inspired And The Sleep, a project involving Californian resident Max Greenhalgh and his aptitude for making pretty summer music. The band’s first single, ‘While We’re Young’, has received plenty of blog lovin’, and now the band have released their second single, ‘Running’, including giving it the music video treatment.

The Tiger And Me ‘The Smoke’

Melbourne band The Tiger And Me recently released the second in their series of three recordings, ‘The Silent City’, following from part one ‘The Howling Fire’, which was released in July of this year. ‘The Smoke’ is the first single taken from ‘The Silent City’, and it makes for enthralling listening. At once restrained and grandiose, with orchestral elements that threaten to explode and take over the song but never do as well as gorgeous interplay between male and female vocals, this is a must listen song.

YesYou ‘Be There’

Today Brisbane band YesYou have premiered a new song online, ‘Be There’, featuring the vocals of Dan Parsons. It’s only the second studio song we’ve heard from the guys, but they’re already making quite the impact nationally with their lovely summer music and plentiful guest stars. Predictably, this is another breezy, fun, and upbeat track, following in the vein of their very popular first single ‘Half Of It’. Good stuff. Stream it below.
