Local Natives ‘Breakers’

Local Natives are one of my favourite new discoveries of the last few years, and also one of the nicest bands I’ve ever had the pleasure of briefly meeting. They had been pretty quiet following the release of their incredible album ‘Gorilla Manor’, but a couple of days ago they finally uploaded a new single to the internet.

Gig Review: Local Natives @ The Corner Hotel, 8th January

“This is out first ever headline show in Australia, and you guys have been everything we could have possibly hoped for.”

Last night, LA band Local Natives played one of their two Australian headline Laneway sideshows this tour, at The Corner Hotel. They played a set full of harmonies, hyper-active drumming and plenty of charm, consisting of the entirety of their brilliant debut album ‘Gorilla Manor’.

However it’s probably only natural that the festival didn’t meet my lofty expectations after the absurdly good day I had last year, and all in all I still had a great day that was well worth the money, albeit scattered with a few let-downs.

The Best Albums Of 2010

This was a surprisingly difficult list to put together. Despite 2010 being an undeniably amazing year for music, I found that there were very few albums that I absolutely and unreservedly loved. This being said, there were some stunning records released this year, with a large percentage of these coming from already established international bands. […]

The Best Songs Of 2010

This has been one hell of a year for music. Plenty of enduring acts have released some of their best work to date, other up and coming bands have established themselves with strong debut albums, and a ton of new and exciting acts have also emerged both from the international scene and in Australia. It’s […]
