What feels like an eternity ago I posted about a Western Australian duo, Antonio Paul, and their debut single ‘City Dreams’. It’s been a long time between drinks, but the band are finally back with a new single, this time in the form of ‘Sweet Wine’. Of course that’s not to say that the band haven’t been busy in the meantime- they’ve recorded their second EP, ‘End Of The World’, added a new bandmember, enjoyed airplay on JJJ and Rage, and toured around the country. But what really matters is of course the music, so check out ‘Sweet Wine’.

Umpire ‘Corner An Owl In An Alcove’
Based in Perth, Umpire have been around the music scene for the better part of five years now, but only released their debut album, ‘Now We’re Active’, last year. For those that have followed the band’s career from the beginning the wait must have been completely worth it however, because the album is fantastic, denying easy categorisation and instead drawing on countless different trends and elements to create an entirely unique sound. The wonderfully titled single ‘Corner An Owl In An Alcove’ is the perfect example of this.

Review: San Cisco ‘Golden Revolver’
Perth teenage four-piece San Cisco have released their first EP, ‘Golden Revolver’, and it’s a killer debut full of singles, great pop tunes, and above all else an impressive amount of diversity. It manages the impossible task of sounding retro and modern; youthful and mature. There really is something here for pretty much anyone that appreciates indie pop music in any form.

In Short: Abbe May ‘Design Desire’
The cover of Perth-based singer/songwriter Abbe May’s third album ‘Design Desire’ is a fitting representation of her music, which is something of a convergence between raw sexuality and a dark, brooding atmosphere. She’s certainly not the first person to attempt this deliberately provocative style, but in the album’s finer moments she pulls it off pretty well.
