Late last year solo artist Foxes, aka Louisa Rose Allen, released her debut digital single, ‘Youth’, on Neon Gold. A couple of days ago the single was made available for purchase as a vinyl via the official Neon Gold store, which is what brought it to my attention. But you don’t really care about that. What really matters is that Youth is a powerhouse of a song, and introduces the world to a female musician very much in the vein of fellow Neon Gold recruit Mariana And The Diamonds, only… well, better.

Elephant Eyes ‘I Want To Know’
Elephant Eyes are a fairly new Melbourne band who have just released their debut single, ‘I Want To Know’, which has already received a bit of love from radio stations PBS, Triple R, and SYN. It’s no surprise either: this is a delicately and superbly crafted track, built around the interplay between alternating lead vocalists Kate McMahon and Stu Hazelman (also of The Hazelman Brothers). It’s slow paced but in a very endearing, deliberate way, and it stands out head and shoulders above a lot of generic Australian music at the moment.
