Foxes ‘Youth’

Late last year solo artist Foxes, aka Louisa Rose Allen, released her debut digital single, Youth, on Neon Gold. A couple of days ago the single was made available for purchase as a vinyl via the official Neon Gold store, which is what brought it to my attention. But you don’t really care about that. What really matters is that Youth is a powerhouse of a song, and introduces the world to a female musician very much in the vein of fellow Neon Gold recruit Mariana And The Diamonds, only… well, better.

Comparisons to other female vocalists are inevitable and in some cases apt, but really there are enough differentiating aspects to Foxes’ music to ensure that she will carve out a name all of her own in the coming months and years. Because this is a song just designed to go massive, in the same way that from the moment you heard Pumped Up Kicks you knew in the back of your mind that you’d be hearing it on some shitty beer ad in the near future. Enjoy the relative obscurity of Youth and indeed of Foxes while it lasts. Grab the track, as well as it’s AA-side, Home, from the player above, or purchase the vinyl from Neon Gold.
