Atlas Genius ‘Back Seat’

Adelaide band Atlas Genius rightfully got a whole lot of attention for their Cosine-d single Trojans, and the guys have returned with a taste of their upcoming debut EP entitled ‘Through The Glass’. The song is called ’Back Seat’, and it’s another easy breezy song that floats by in a heartbeat, sounding effortless and chilled and fun all at the same time. Listen below.

Release The Sunbird ‘Heart-Skinned, Down’

Release The Sunbird is the solo project of Zach Rogue of the Californian band Rogue Wave. Which is a little strange, because you’d think that anyone who names their band after themselves can probably treat it as much like a solo gig as they want. Not that I’m complaining though, because although I’ve never really listened to Rogue Wave I’ve taken a real shine to Release The Sunbird lately, especially their recently released EP entitled ‘Imaginary Summer’. Check out my favourite song off the EP, ‘Heart-Skinned, Down’.

Antonio Paul ‘Into The Night’

Western Australian duo Antonio Paul market themselves as an act capable of providing the perfect soundtrack for a roadtrip, and so far their music has been delivering exactly that. Their first EP, ‘Treasures’ provided a taste of raw, youthful talent, and their latest release, ‘End Of The World’, builds on this significantly without losing any of the energy and excitement. The guys have recently released the second single from ‘End Of The World’, and it’s called ’Into The Night’.

Walk The Moon ‘Anna Sun’

I discovered Walk The Moon last night by watching my favourite super-awkward late night host, Jimmy Fallon. I had never heard of them before, but the American band put in one hell of a performance on ‘Late Night’, and I was immediately hooked. Having since listened to some of their studio stuff I can safely say that it’s not quite as good as their live show, but it’s still well worth a listen. Here’s the track they performed on Fallon, ’Anna Sun’.

The Belligerents ‘Infatuation’

The Belligerents have definitely gone places lately, no doubt as a direct result of being featured on this site a year or so ago, supporting the likes of Metronomy and Neon Indian as they toured around Australia. Having just announced a tour with Van She, the Brisbane band have also dropped a new single, ‘Infatuation’. Check it out below.

Tom Milek ‘Vicious Curves’

Melbourne musician Tom Milek plays some really really gorgeous music, he’s just released his debut EP, and he’s about to tour around Australia. That’s definitely a winning combination. The EP in question is called ‘Love And Ambition’, and the title sums up Tom’s music quite well: it would be a bit cliched if it was so genuine and so deftly executed. As it is however he seems a talented and honest musician capable of some utterly stunning moments of music, as is exemplified by his single ‘Vicious Curves’.
