Allbrook/Avery ‘Wait ‘Til Morning’

Allbrook/Avery is, fittingly, a collaboration between Nick Allbrook and Cameron Avery, both of whom you may recognise from other projects such as Pond, Tame Impala, and Growl. I’ve been receiving emails about the band for a while but only checked them out very recently, and I must say I’m quite impressed, even though it’s not exactly the type of music I usually listen to. The guys have just released their debut album, ‘Big Art’, which includes previous single Empty as well as this track, Wait ‘Til Morning.

It’s strictly a love or hate affair, and which side of the fence you sit on is going to depend largely on your tolerance for lofi raw garage rock. But then again personally I’m not a huge fan of the genre, and I still quite like this. There’s just enough melody here to make it more than just a straight up jam, and even though it’s not exactly going to quash the ongoing divisive debate of whether Nick Allbrook can or cannot sing, the vocals fit the track perfectly. 1. I agree. I don’t usually go for this style but the track works.
