I guess I spoke too soon when I said yesterday that the studio version of Beirut’s new single, East Harlem, would be available early next week, because the track has already surfaced.
It’s very different to the live version we’ve already heard, with the addition of a piano and a lessened focus on the ukulele. At this early point I actually think I prefer the live version, but regardless it is a fantastic song that hopefully hints at what to expect from Beirut’s next album, which is rumoured to be coming later this year. You can buy the 7″ single here, as well as sampling the song’s B-side, Goshen.
