Tickets to all the official sideshows are on sale on Friday the 27th of May, but not all of these are ‘official’ so to be certain you should check the usual venue websites. If at all possible try to buy tickets from the official Splendour sideshows page, as a portion of all sales made there will go towards helping Queenslanders affected by the recent devastating floods and cyclone.
I believe that is everything that has been announced so far, but if I’ve missed anything please feel free to let me know and I’ll keep this updated if more sideshows are announced. So, my thoughts? Firstly, it’s good to see that the oddly specific pricing of last year is back. Secondly, it’s strange how many bands are doing their sideshows at the same time as Splendour is actually on, most notably Pulp and Friendly Fires.
As for the sideshows I would recommend, I’m personally looking at Grouplove and Foster The People as certainties (although it’s frustrating that the latter clashes with Modest Mouse). Wild Beasts would be a must if I wasn’t flying to Woodfordia on Thursday morning. And finally, I’m going to do everything within my power to make it to James Blake and possibly Noah And The Whale as well.
What a few weeks this will be. I love you, sideshow season.
Grouplove and Foster The People are defs for me too. Since Kele clashes with Grouplove in Sydney, I’m thinking maybe The Vaccines or Noah & The Whale instead. Both clash too however. Not sure which to go for…
Man, Wednesday the 27th is fucked. Means I can only see one of Hives, Modest Mouse or Elbow. Rough!
Yeah it’s easily the worst night for clashes. I’ll definitely be at Foster The People and Guineafowl, but it’s annoying to miss Modest Mouse. I imagine they’re a good festival band anyway though.
