Them Swoops ‘Work Around It’

Cosine Records have been putting out some fantastic Australian releases recently, and the latest band to join the family is Melbourne’s Them Swoops. The duo are so good that Cosine Records have actually released a double A-side record from the boys as opposed to the split-release that they are accustomed to. It’s hardly surprising either: this is melodious, sweeping, infectious indie pop that can sound uncannily like Napoleon-era Phoenix at times, which is meant as the highest of compliments.

Colour Coding ‘Perfect’

Like a lot of people I’m suffering a bit from shimmery-indie-summer-electro-pop over-saturation as of late. It seems like half of the new Australian bands I hear about fit into this caricature, and even though they may be perfectly capable bands, there can certainly be too much of a good thing. But I guess that means that, when a new artist who plays that type of music stands out at me, they must be really, really good. Such is the case with Sydney duo Colour Coding, who have just released their first single, ‘Perfect’.
