JJ ‘Beautiful Life’

Despite my continuing refusal to use lowercase ‘J’s, I’m actually a really big fan of the Swedish duo. Despite hitting some mainstream success with earlier releases the band is still a bit of a mystery, and in typical fashion they’ve released a new song onto the internet out of nowhere, entitled ’Beautiful Life’. Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros ‘That’s What’s Up’

Last week Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros gave us the first taste of their upcoming album ‘Here’, the single ‘Man On Fire’. Wasting no time, the band have released the second song from the album, ‘That’s What’s Up’. It’s a bit more of a jam than ‘Man On Fire’, and really brings back good memories of seeing the band play live, where it seemed like they were all just improvising everything they played and having a great time. There’s a definite sense of creative freedom here. Have a listen.

Dirty Projectors ‘Gun Has No Trigger’

Dirty Projectors have joined the myriad of others bands announcing new records records recently, in the form of the typically confusingly named ‘Swing Lo Magellan’, which is out July 10th. As is custom, accompanying the announcement the band have dumped the first single from the album onto Soundcloud. It’s called ’Gun Has No Trigger’, and you can listen to it below.

Tom Rosenthal ‘Take Care’

Not to be confused with the British comedian of the same name, Tom Rosenthal is a London-based musician who released his debut album ‘Keep A Private Room Behind The Shop’ last year to critical acclaim. He only recently came to my attention, but his music has almost immediately become something of an obsession. I can’t seem to stop listening to it. It’s nuanced, complex, and brooding, but yet it’s also very accessible and enjoyable from the off.
