The Kritzlers ‘To Anywhere But Here’

You may have heard of The Kritzlers. Originally from Brisbane, the band migrated to Melbourne earlier this year to release their debut full-length album ‘Cochlear Kill’, which includes a couple of older singles released while the band was still based in Brisbane. Most notable of these older tracks is Scarlet Sometimes, which received a bit of love from the ol’ Js, and deservedly so. I’ve had a chance to listen to ‘Cochlear Kill’, and while it really is a fantastically strong all-round album, the one track that really stands out to me is the opener, To Anywhere But Here.

I love this song, and haven’t been able to stop listening to it for the better part of two days. It’s just so weightless, with a little bit of shoegaze but not too much shoegaze, and that flute introduction kills me every time. This is very very cool stuff, I’d go as far to say as it’s the most exciting new music I’ve heard from an Australian artist in quite some time. I’m already looking forward to devoting more time to the album as a whole. Check out The Kritzlers on Facebook, grab some free downloads from Unearthed, and buy the album from iTunes.
