Don’t Miss: Phoenix And Franz Ferdinand

It seems as if all the good bands in the universe are converging in Australia early next year. Although I’m not complaining, my bank balance certainly is.

Adding to the mix, French band Phoenix have recently announced that they are touring around the country during March next year, despite having briefly visited earlier this year. Having missed them this year, I’m absolutely delighted and can’t wait to see them.

Phoenix are playing The Festival Hall in Melbourne on the 5th of March. Tickets go on sale on the 10th of December, and are $80. For dates and venues for the rest of the country, see here.

As if that wasn’t enough, our favourite Scottish alternative rockers Franz Ferdinand have just announced that they are going to play one Melbourne and one Sydney sideshow to accompany their appearance at the Future Music Festival.

It feels like I’ve been waiting forever to see these guys live, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the rest of the Future Music lineup, so this is great news.

Franz Ferdinand are playing The Forum Theatre in Melbourne on the 3rd of March. Tickets go on sale on the 10th of December, and are expected to be in the vicinity of $80. For Sydney sideshow information, as well as Future Music information (the only way to see the band if you’re not in Sydney or Melbourne), see here.

The astute will probably have realised that both tickets go on sale on the same day. Yes, it’s not ideal, but my recommendation is to grab tickets to Franz Ferdinand first, as they are a huge band playing a smaller venue than they might have, and I predict that their show will sell out quicker than Phoenix, who already toured here this year, and are playing a bigger venue. Although if, like me, you’re after General Admission for Phoenix, it might be a bit trickier.

Also, you will have probably noticed that both shows are going to be quite expensive. But as much as your bank account will hate you, these are two huge international acts, and it would be a real shame not to see them in their prime. And don’t forget, General Admission makes for true gig experiences.
