Welcome

Welcome to my music blog.

  • Sufjan Stevens
  • Beirut
  • Arcade Fire
  • The Boxer Rebellion
  • The Drums
  • Delphic
  • Friendly Fires
  • Yves Klein Blue
  • Bob Evans
  • Red Riders
  • Midnight Juggernauts

These are a few of my favourite artists. If you know them, then stay tuned to hear about some other bands you’ll enjoy as well. If you don’t know these artists, then it’s music you love, you just haven’t realised it yet.

This blog will serve to introduce you to new music. There is so much great music out there that most people will never hear, and my job is going to be to show you just some of that.

I am based in Australia, so I will naturally be focusing partly on local Australian acts, many of whom deserve international attention anyway. I will also look at international artists. It won’t be pretentious, and it won’t be so unknown that you would never be able to find it anywhere anyway. It will just be good music. Nothing more, and nothing less.

I plan to include reviews of new albums, guides to upcoming gigs (mostly in Australia of course), introductions to new indie artists, and reviews of gigs I have been to.

Please leave comments if you find new music here, or have any suggestions for other stuff my readers might like. I can also be contacted at andpluckyourstrings@gmail.com.

I will update this blog regularly, so check back often to keep on discovering great music!

And for now, I leave you with the song that inspired this blog’s title, from an amazing Australian indie band called ‘The Middle East’. Enjoy!

Artist: The Middle East

Song: Blood
