The National ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’

Having already recorded a song for my favourite television show in ‘Game Of Thrones’, my favourite band, The National, have now recorded a song for my second favourite television show, ‘Boardwalk Empire’. That’s a lot of favourites. The song in question is a cover of Isham Jones’ iconic I’ll See You In My Dreams, and The National of course pull off the song perfectly, adding their own typical flourishes to the oft-covered track. It really does sound like it could be something out of Prohibition-era America. Listen to the full track over at Consequence Of Sound. Without spoiling anything, the way the song was worked into the latest episode was really beautiful, and demonstrates just how powerful non-diegetic music can be in television shows and movies.
